Omar Samhan, Ali Farokhmanesh: Two names that likely meant nothing to you five days ago, but are now as familiar as Scottie Reynolds and Sherron Collins. And while Farokhmanesh seems more reserved, content to let dagger three-pointers do the talking for him, Samhan has displayed a more ... colorful personality.
For example, after St. Mary's upset No. 2 Villanova on Saturday, Samhan openly critized coach Jay Wright for not double-teaming him:
"I get it," he said. "I’m a slow white guy, and I’m overweight. So maybe you don’t respect me because I have good numbers. But after I kill you the first half, what are you waiting for. I don’t know what he wanted. Did he want me to have 40?"
Samhan was dominant in that game, scoring 32 points, but let's knock him down a few notches here: double-team or not, Nova probably wins that game if Reynolds is even close to his normal self on offense. He had eight points on 2-11 shooting. Of course, Scottie was ice cold from the field for the entire month of March, while Samhan has decided to peak just in time for the Madness.
Oh, and his YouTube handle is poopshower. Colorful, indeed.
