The Cleveland Browns Turn Their Lonely Eyes To Colt McCoy?

This almost doesn’t even need a joke. According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, the Cleveland Browns are seriously considering adding Colt McCoy in this April’s draft:

Hearing Browns interest in Colt McCoy is real – either w 2nd round pick or package picks to move into bottom of 1st rd. Don’t rule it out.

And while we shouldn’t necessarily dismiss Colt McCoy as a pro quarterback just yet, we can definitely dismiss him as a viable solution in Cleveland. It's like the Browns are actively courting disappointment with this one. It makes no sense. At least Brady Quinn was from Ohio and dated A.J. Hawk's sister.

Put it this way: in an attempt to thwart their franchise’s awful QB karma, they’re considering an undersized guy with a weak arm and a reputation that’ll ensure extensive scrutiny in the early part of his career. Plus, he may have a degenerate shoulder at this point.

With their notoriously fickle fanbase, what could possibly go wrong? Goooo Browns!

Tom Brady...

was once an “undersized guy with a weak arm” too. I’m not necessarily saying that McCoy will be anything like Brady, but his size shouldn’t necessarily count against him.

Ahhh…..I feel like I’ve heard this before. Wait, instead of Colt McCoy, put Brady Quinn’s name in there.

Just wait Colt, you’ll be playing in Denver in a few years.

Stupid Writer

We all know that Colt McCoy is going to be a great quarterback in the NFL. Maybe Mike Holmgrem does too? Wait, how did Brett Favre and Matt Hasselbeck do for him? They get to a Super Bowl or two?

Cleveland would be smart to take a quarterback as good as Colt McCoy. Arm strength is way overrated in the NFL. Just ask the Raiders and JaMarcus. And every NFL team would do their research and make sure McCoy’s shoulder is fine before investing a high draft pick in him.

This guy should stick with the NBA and “The Wire”. Doesn’t know much else.

Huh?

OK, he doesn’t have a “big” arm, but he doesn’t have a weak arm either. Winningest QB in Div I-A football history? And he completed, what, 99% of his passes? But yeah, worry about how much scrutiny he might encounter in Cleveland rather than whether or not he’s good.

colt will never be the answer for cleveland. there gonna need a qb that can run with the ball because their wrs really suck. you have to get talent around a qb before you put him out there.what they need is a good vet. mcnabb anyone

The Chargers officially offer #28 overall

For the Browns high 2nd, mid 3rd, and 2011 3rd. We’ll even throw in our 7th for go measure, as it appears the Browns are in love with scrub picks.
