In the second round, Crosby deposited a wrister into the upper right corner. After Marc-Andre Fleury made a pad save on a Nikolai Kulemin shot, Pascal Dupuis sealed the win with a wrister into the upper left corner of the net.
Crosby scored twice in regulation to grab the goal-scoring lead with 47, one ahead of Washington's Alex Ovechkin. Matt Cooke and Tyler Kennedy each lit the lamp for the Penguins, who have won their past two games. Fleury made 25 stops.
The win gives Pittsburgh 95 points on the season, two more than New Jersey, which is currently playing Philadelphia, for first place in the Atlantic Division.
Skating on the power play with the score tied in the third, the Maple Leafs took the lead when Dion Phaneuf's shot from the high slot was stopped and Bozak was in front to jam home the rebound at the 5:38 mark.
The Pens, though, tied the game with 2:48 left in regulation as Jordan Leopold blasted a one-timer from the right point that Cooke redirected into the net from the right side.
Both goaltenders made big saves in overtime and the Pens spent the last 1:37 on the power play, but neither side was able to score as the game went to the shootout.
The Pens tied the game midway through the frame as Kennedy's wrister got past Giguere for his 11th goal of the season.
The Leafs got the lead back 4:54 into the second when Kessel's wrister from the inside right circle clipped Fleury's arm and went in.
Pittsburgh, though, got a pair of goals from Crosby to take the lead. The first came at the 7:29 mark of the second as Brooks Orpik's left point shot was stopped, but Crosby was in front of the net to sweep home the rebound.
A bit over three minutes later, Crosby won a right circle faceoff back to Orpik, who skated down low and sent it back to Crosby for a wrister past Giguere for a 3-2 lead.
The Maple Leafs, though, tied the game on a delayed call as Carl Gunnarsson's original shot from the inside left circle was stopped by a defender, but his second attempt sailed over the glove of Fleury with 5:25 to play in the frame.
