Unless you're a really avid NBA fan, you probably haven't heard of Rodrigue Beaubois. For that, blame Mavericks coach Rick Carlise.
You see, save for one Tyreke Evans, Beaubois is the most productive rookie point guard statistically in the NBA this year. Problem is, nobody knows how good he is, because, well, he's only playing 12.7 minutes a game. He doesn't appear in any of Dallas' ten most-used lineups. And why not? Well, Carlisle likes J.J. Barea more. Or something.
Beaubois was finally given a real shot to play against Golden State on Saturday, and all he did was drop 40 points on 9-11 from three-point range in a blowout win. As SB Nation's Mavs Moneyball writes, if that game wasn't enough to give him the PT he deserves, then what game will be?
Apparently, it wasn't enough, because Carlisle still not guaranteeing him a spot in the rotation. It's looking more and more like the old, predictable Mavericks will leave their X-factor tethered to the bench. When that happens, we, the fans, lose out.
