Peggy Kusinski of NBCChicago.com reported on Wednesday morning that Bears TE Greg Olsen directed his agent Drew Rosenhaus to seek out a trade due to concerns about his role in the offense under Mike Martz.
Not so, says Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times.
The Bears are not actively shopping Olsen, although that could change if another club makes an overwhelming offer.
The source tells me that Martz is still trying to get a handle on the Bears offensive players, and he hasn’t had time to get his arms around how he will utilize them.
There were/are some concerns that Martz historically doesn’t use tight ends much in his offense. However, as Jensen notes, Martz hasn’t had a tight end as athletic as Olsen, so things could change.
The Bears will still listen to offers for Olsen but they are reportedly not actively shopping him.
