Texans Fans Approve Of DeMeco Ryans Extension

When news broke of the Texans signing DeMeco Ryans to a six-year, $48 million extension, we wondered if Texans fans would approve of the move.

That would be a resounding yes, according to SB Nation's Texans community, Battle Red Blog.

I'm far too excited about this. DeMeco's not going anywhere, and Rick Smith didn't have to dole out Terrell Suggs money to do it. Share your euphoria in the Comments below. Hell, even if you're not euphoric, share those feelings in the comments too.

Next in line, according to Texans fans: S Bernard Pollard.

Check out the pure joy going on over at Battle Red Blog.

Texans Sign Star MLB DeMeco Ryans To $48 Million Contract

I hope Houston Texans fans like LB DeMeco Ryans because they're going to be seeing him for a long time.

According to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, the Texans inked Ryans, 25, to a six-year contract extension.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the total value is $48 million. A whopping $21.75 million of that is guaranteed and over $26 million will be paid out in the first three years.

The extension is well-deserved based on his production.

In 2006, Ryans was the NFL's Rookie of the Year after posting 155 tackles. This came despite a position change from his position of outside linebacker at Alabama to middle linebacker with the Texans.

The following three seasons he continued his outstanding production with over 100 tackles in each season.

In just four seasons in the NFL, he's a two-time Pro Bowler and the captain of the Texans rising defense. He's probably the second best young linebacker in the game behind Patrick Willis.

Ryans was a restricted free agent set to play under the one year tender offered by the Texans so his extension is a no-brainer.

Judging by the reaction at SB Nation's Texans community, Battle Red Blog, Texans fans are indeed happy.
