According to Arrowhead Pride, the Chiefs are "showing serious interest" in journeyman DT Shaun Smith. With that news, we're necessarily reminded of Smith's most notable contribution to the league: he allegedly jacked Brady Quinn in the face two years ago.
Quinn, of course, played his college ball at Notre Dame; his successor, the outgoing Jimmy Clausen, was also punched square in the eye just last fall. That's two successive football seasons and two successive Notre Dame starting quarterbacks punched in the face.
All of which is to say, Dayne Crist, you're next. The only question is who's going to do it. As with all events with uncertain outcomes, Vegas is on the case.
1/20 Some player you've never heard of
3/1 Michael Floyd after Crist airmails a fade route into the 16th row
5/1 Brian Kelly on the first day of summer practice to send the freshmen a message
8/1 The Irish mascot; he does represent the "Fighting Irish," and nobody likes empty words
12/1 Brady Quinn, since sitting on the Browns' sidelines can get punch-a-friend boring after a while
15/1 Jimmy Clausen, same thing except for being on the Redskins' sideline
100/1 Touchdown Jesus, breaking free from the famous mural after misinterpreting the pronunciation of Crist's last name
10,000/1 Nobody
