I love me some Shutdown Corner, but MJD is off base in thinking Tim Tebow won't last through the second round because Buffalo and Seattle are bringing him in for a private workout.
He reasons that if Tebow is being asked to perform a private workout, then there must be high interest in him. Observe:
Has that ever happened before? Can you imagine any other circumstances where an NFL team would say, "Yes, we'd like to have you in for a private workout, even though we can't be sure that you don't plan to be the first granny-style NFL quarterback."
If this were true, Armanti Edwards is set to make some big-time money. The undersized Appalachian State quarterback already has private workouts scheduled with Indianapolis, Miami and Carolina. Heck Indianapolis might have its first two picks settled since they're bringing in Buffalo free safety Mike Newton.
But are Edwards or Newton going to be picked in the first two rounds? Highly unlikely.
Whether Tebow will be isn't totally known. The point is that this isn't uncommon. Teams bring a number of players in for private workouts between the NFL Scouting Combine and the draft. Some teams even bring in groups of players for workouts.
The Tebow workouts are only being mentioned because he's such a lightning rod for both discussion and traffic. Maybe that was MJD's goal – to grab some sweet draft traffic.
Maybe that's the goal of this post? Maybe it is! Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow. Come on traffic! Tebow, Tebow Tebow!
