After a magnificent freshman season that captured the imagination of fans in the SEC and beyond, Kentucky’s John Wall was rewarded with the SEC’s player of the year award. His coach, on the other hand, lost out to Vanderbilt’s Kevin Stallings who won his second coach of the year award in four years. This season, Stallings led the Commodores to surprising success and a surefire NCAA Tournament berth.
Also of note, while Wall was named Player of the Year, the freshman lost out to his teammate DeMarcus Cousins for Freshman of the Year. The full rosters are below. Asterisks denote a unanimous selection.

New Mexico (28-3, 14-2) is atop the standings in the Mountain West Conference, so it was little surprise to see the Lobos take home a handful of recognitions when the league announced its postseason awards on Monday.
The league's nine men's head coaches, along with a select media panel, picked the all-Conference teams, and named New Mexico's Darington Hobson, a junior guard, the recipient for both the Player and Newcomer of the year. He's the first individual to receive both awards in the same season in the MWC.

Maryland Sweep: Greivis Vasquez Named ACC Player Of The Year, Gary Williams Coach Of The Year
After a surprising season, it was a clean sweep for the Maryland Terrapins in the ACC Player and Coach of the Year awards. Greivis Vasquez, who led the Terps to a share of the ACC regular-season crown, has been named the ACC Player Of The Year, according to Comcast’s Chick Hernandez. Vasquez finished second in the conference at 19.6 points per game, while propelling Maryland to a 13-3 conference mark.
Meanwhile, Gary Williams took home the ACC Coach of the Year award for the second time in his career (the other came during Maryland’s championship year in 2002). The Terps outperformed expectations this year, finished in a tie with Duke atop the ACC, despite being picked to finish fifth in the preseason ACC poll. This award is something of a matter of vindication for Williams, who came under fire last season, before the Terps made a last-season push for the NCAAs, for not successfully recruiting enough top players as the team floundered in its post-Juan Dixon years.
