2010 NHL Playoff Race: Clinching Scenarios For Saturday, April 10

The Philadelphia Flyers could have cleared all this stuff up with a regulation win on Friday night, but the New York Rangers had other plans in mind. So entering Saturday, the Eastern Conference playoff race is not over just yet. Here's a breakdown of today's action and the consequences it holds.

  • Boston can clinch a playoff berth with just one point against Carolina. The game is at 1 PM. The Bruins can clinch the sixth seed with a win over Carolina and a Montreal loss in regulation, overtime, or a shootout.
  • Montreal can clinch a playoff berth with just one point tonight at 7 PM against Toronto.
  • New Jersey can clinch the Atlantic Division with a win over the Islanders and a Pittsburgh regulation loss.

Out West...

  • Chicago can clinch the top-seed in the West if San Jose loses in regulation to Phoenix.
