The 56th pick is in and SB Nation's Packers community, Acme Packing Company, has selected...
Oklahoma CB Dominique Franks
There's a lot to like about Franks who's coming out early and foregoing his senior season. He's been an excellent starter over the past two seasons with the Sooners, and is a terrific athlete. He doesn't possess exceptional size (5'11", 194 lbs.) but he ran a 4.46 40-yard dash at the NFL combine. He might be a bit of a project since he didn't play much (any?) zone in college, and he may need to work on his fundamentals (i.e. tackling). But the Packers won't need him to step into the cornerback rotation immediately.
This is a tough draft for Green Bay. It's hard to imagine the team would get out of the first two rounds without an offensive tackle, but there was lacking value every time the Packers picked. Fortunately a player like Franks has a lot of upside and value.
I agree with MTD. This is a tough spot. How is the offensive line not addressed yet? The Packers have had some hard luck but somehow, someway that line has to be addressed -- even if it's a reach.
