VIDEO: Lionel Hollins Shows Kenyon Martin How It's Done

Last night, Grizzlies reserve center Hamed Haddadi made the mistake of trying to take it to the cup against Denver's Kenyon Martin. Kenyon swatted the ball into the second row, right over the head of the Grizzlies' coaching staff. Memphis coach Lionel Hollins didn't like that very much. Kenyon then sauntered over to the bench, calling for the ball from those sitting behind it. Hollins really didn't like that.

Hollins with the weak-side help defense! That wasn't even his man. Talk about keeping your head on a swivel. Lets take a look at Coach's picture perfect technique.

-(0:14) Look at that stink-eye. Sure he's hating on Kenyon for the big block, but he's also sizing him up for one of his own.

-(0:16) Like a good defensive back Coach keeps his eye on the receiver and stays down until he sees Kenyon reach for the ball. He then jumps up quickly and locates the target.

-(0:18) Coach gets a left hand on the ball and sends it back into the stands from whence it came. Although I have to admit, blocking a shot into the crowd is a lot less impressive when you are already standing out of bounds. Part of the blame has to be attributed to the security guard who tried the flashy underhand pass when he should have just thrown a chest pass; fundamentals people, fundamentals.

-(0:20) Like every good shot blocker that has just committed a foul, Hollins just puts his hands on his hips and walks away like nothing happened. He was already out to half court when he got called for a delay of game technical.

Coach, in the future you gotta leave the shot blocking to the players, it's a legal play when they do it; and isn't that what you drafted Hasheem Thabeet for anyway?
