The 58th pick is in and SB Nation's Cardinals community, Revenge of the Birds, has selected..
Penn State LB Sean Lee
Lee is a proven leader and has the football intelligence to transfer his skills to the NFL. He's built up his frame and won't shy away from contact. He's a very good run defender, and has the speed to cover most tight ends or backs. He has the power to avoid most blocks and will harass opposing quarterbacks. He still needs to prove to scouts that he has the speed and strength to make it in the NFL.
This would be a tossup between Lee and Brandon Spikes of Florida. For me, it's the right position fill, but the wrong player. Everyone is concerned that Spikes ran slow at the combine. To those people, I say go watch some Florida games. Spikes made a lot of plays. He should be a little more natural as a 3-4 inside linebacker than Lee, but to each his own.
Spikes' speed is overrated in my humble opinion. He was a solid defender at Florida -- speed or not. It's game tape that matters. That said, I can't argue too much with this pick. I feel Sean Lee or Spikes would both be good picks.
