Earlier today, Orlando's Dwight Howard was named the NBA's defensive player of the year, and it wasn't even news, really. At this point, LeBron James is to the MVP award as Dwight Howard is to DPOY. He has no peers.
Superman pulled down 10 defensive rebounds-a-game this year, played all 82 games, and averaged nearly 3 blocks each night, to say nothing of the countless shots he altered. Basically, when Dwight Howard's on your team, everybody is good at defense. He makes the whole team better.
***SHAMELESSLY CORNY SEGUE***
And now you can help him make the whole world better. Or, Haiti, specifically. Through his charity, the Dwight Howard Fund, he's already donated $100,000 to help Haitian youths affected by this year's earthquake, and he's now soliciting donations. You can donate on behalf of SB Nation and our Orlando Magic blog, Orlando Pinstriped Post, by clicking here.
With every donation over $3, you will be entered to win a chance at a $500 Adidas shopping spree with Dwight, himself. And my corny segue aside, it's a good reminder that in addition to a great player, Dwight Howard seems like a pretty awesome guy. So... Help him help these kids.
