Nevada's Luke Babbitt Declares For NBA Draft, Signs With Agent

Nevada sophomore Luke Babbitt will declare for the NBA Draft and sign with an agent, ruling out any chance he could return to school, according to Jeff Goodman of Fox Sports.

The 6'8'', 215-pound Babbitt was one of the few fringe first-round picks who had not declared for the draft, and his decision to not only put his name in, but sign with an agent seems to indicate he knows some teams at the end of the first round are interested. ESPN's Chad Ford highlighted Babbitt as one of the last "big" names still on the fence, and said:

Babbitt has a lot of fans, probably more than is reflected by his placement on our Big Board. Some GMs have him in the late teens to early 20s. Others aren't as convinced and have him parked in the second round. But given the number of GMs that like him, if he declares, he'll likely sneak into the first round.

Ford currently ranks Babbitt as the 35th-best prospect in this class, while Draft Express has him 41st and NBADraft.net puts him 30th. Babbitt's smooth shooting stroke, especially for a big, make him an appealing prospect, although his marked lack of athleticism limits his upside.

Babbitt averaged 21.9 points and 8.9 rebounds per game for Nevada this past season.
