Jason Campbell Traded To The Raiders

SB Nation's Silver and Black Pride has weighed in on the Jason Campbell trade and the result is unanimous.

They love it.

The best Oakland Raider draft in recent memory just went through the roof with the acquisition of Jason Campbell from the Washington Redskins. Campbell is now, easily, the best quarterback in silver and black. The death knoll is ringing for JaMarcus Russell who should be cut in order to avoid paying him entire 2010 contract if he should somehow get injured.

The question now becomes what comes of JaMarcus Russell. Silver and Black Pride seems to think he won't be wearing silver and black much longer.

SB Nation's Redskins community, Hogs Haven, says the trade that sends Jason Campbell to the Raiders is fair.

But the Redskins have punished Jason enough - and I mean that physically and mentally.

It's not often Al Davis wins in a trade, so I'll be curious to hear Shanahan's comments. After what JC has gone through, it's only fair to let him have a chance elsewhere with a clean start. JC got to speak with Al Davis before the trade, so the Redskins handled this with class, which is very respectful.

They're calling it "fair" to the player because this is Campbell's 9th offense in 10 years.

Details of the Jason Campbell trade are starting to leak out.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Raiders added one year onto Campbell's contract. He was playing under the one-year tender in 2010 for $3.1 million. NFLN's Jason La Canfora says the extension will pay him "about $4.5 million" in 2011.

It's also been reported that the Raiders gave up a fourth round pick in 2012 for Campbell's services.

To review: JaMarcus Russell, the No. 1 overall pick, received over $30 million in guaranteed in money.

And the Raiders just traded a fourth round pick for a backup quarterback to replace him.

That's about right.
