Miguel Olivo's boxscore from Colorado's 5-3 loss to Arizona on Monday night: 4 at bats, 1 single, 2 strikeouts, and 1 kidney stone passed.
According to Jim Armstrong of the Denver Post, Olivo finally rid himself of the kidney stone during the 8th inning of Monday's game, a 5-3 loss to Arizona. Fellow Post scribe Troy Renck avers that Olivo actually passed two stones.
“Believe me, it’s not fun,” said Olivo. “Sometimes, when I’ve got that thing, I just want to die. But I can handle pain a little bit. Once it’s gone, I’m normal, I’m good. Let’s play baseball.”
The amazing thing here, isn't so much that he found a clubhouse bathroom during the game, it is that he was playing to begin with. Moreover, he was catching, as opposed to merely standing out in left field spitting tobacco and being forced to jog every twenty minutes or so.
Not surprisingly, Olivo's single came in the 9th inning, his first plate appearance post-stone.
