UFC Announces Counter Programming Effort For Strikeforce's April Event

Spike TV presents an encore presentation of the star-studded “UFC 110: Nogueira vs. Velasquez” fight card featuring many of the sport’s biggest names including  Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Wanderlei Silva, Mirko Cro Cop, Cain Velasquez, Joe Stevenson, and Michael Bisping, among others on Saturday, April 17 at 9:00pm ET/PT.  “UFC 110: Nogueira vs. Velasquez” took place at the sold-out Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia on Saturday, February 20.

Of course, this is coincidentally going to start at exactly the same time as the Strikeforce event on CBS.  I'm sure we'll hear from the UFC and Spike about how it's got nothing to do with Strikeforce, but lets be real.  The UFC counter-programs everything.  There isn't anything wrong with it from a business sense.  It's just always a little bit of a turn-off to see them refuse to acknowledge the reason that they do it.

Regardless, MMA fans will be watching the Strikeforce show over a few month old replay of a UFC event.  It's all about what the curious casual fans decide to watch.
