The 37th pick is in and SB Nation's Eagles community, Bleeding Green Nation, has selected...
TCU LB Daryl Washington
Considering the Eagles could use help at either OLB spot, Washington could easily be a start from day one. He'll be an immediate upgrade in coverage and he'll be faster to the sidelines than anyone they've started in recent years. With middle linebacker Stewart Bradley returning from injury, he and Washington could make for a young and athletic duo at LB for years to come. It's been a long time since the Eagles had a real playmaker at the WILL position and Washington could absolutely be that guy.
While I don't have Washington quite as highly rated as him, this is a great value pick. Jason is dead on thinking there will be secondary help available later in this mock. The team could go safety or cornerback with pick 55 and get a good player. A linebacker as good as Washington probably won't be around that late.
As the writer for SB Nation's Chiefs site, I can tell you the Eagles have expressed some interest in Derrick Johnson in the past so this pick doesn't surprise me. And, like MTD, I agree with BGN that there will be some safety help in the later rounds. This is a deep class for that. This is a solid pick.
