It's halftime of the national championship, and the big story (besides the lack of fouls called on Duke, obviously), is Avery Jukes, backup forward for Butler.
With Matt Howard saddled with two fouls early, Jukes has been forced onto the court, and he's made the most of it: Jukes is the game's leading scorer with 10 points. Considering he came into tonight averaging just 2.7 ppg, it's fair to say people might not be familiar with him (myself included), so let's meet Avery Jukes.
- His name is Avery Jukes. Your argument is invalid.
- Transferred from Alabama after the 2005-06 season.
- Attended South Gwinnett High School in Snellville, GA.
- Scored a total of six points in Butler's previous six tournament games.
- And from Pete Thamel: "Butler reserve Avery Jukes ... is best known for raising money for children in Uganda. He's got 10 to lead all scorers."
Jukes' 10 points tonight also matches a season high. And, again: his name is Avery Jukes.
