So far, I've held off on commenting on Shaun Livingston solely out of fear. It just seems too good to be true. For him, maybe; but definitely for Washington Wizards fans. Let's see... After our superstar gets thoroughly disgraced and banished from the league, after we trade our other stars for 30 cents on the dollar, after we build around Andray freakin' Blatche...Now we have a young, promising point guard just fall into our laps? Sorry, but this smells like a trick.
But — and I say this with the utmost caution — Livingston just continues to impress in D.C.
Especially considering Livingston's history of adversity, it's quietly turning into one of the better stories of the NBA year. Last night, Livingston had 21 points on 9-11 shooting, along with 8 assists, and ZERO turnovers. From a point guard, that's pretty unreal. He may not be the superstar we once expected, but he's looking like a legit starting point guard. They were playing the Warriors... meaningless game in April... But still.
The signs are positive, and for both Livingston and the Wizards, that's a welcome change.
Who knows if it'll last or if Livingston's knee will explode tomorrow? But right now I'm feeling like Cuba Gooding, Jr. at the end of Jerry Maguire:
Shh. Shh. Just... Let me enjoy this.
