Xavier Henry Makes It Official: He's Entering The NBA Draft

Kansas star freshman Xavier Henry has made it official.

He's entering the NBA draft.

Henry announced the move at a press conference this afternoon flanked by his coach, Bill Self, and brother, C.J.

This marks the first one-and-done player for Kansas. Self said he "wouldn't lose any sleep" over Henry's declaration instead saying he was happy for him.

"I think it's definitely worth it to have a guy in your program for just one year if he's a guy with the character of Xavier," Self said.

Where Henry will go in the draft is debatable, he says.

"I've heard everything from eighth to 28th," he said. "But as long as I work hard, I'm going to get what I deserve. That's what I believe."

Xavier Henry Expected To Declare For NBA Draft At 3 PM Press Conference

Kansas star freshman Xavier Henry is expected to declare himself eligible for the NBA Draft at a 3 p.m. press conference today at Allen Field House.

Henry averaged 13.4 and 4.4 rebounds and started every game for Kansas, which was knocked out of the NCAA Tournament in the second round by Northern Iowa. Many expected Henry to make the jump to the NBA after one season with the Jayhawks.

Kansas coach Bill Self recently said Henry was ready "to impact the NBA game."

Some draft projections have Henry going in the middle of the first round.
