Lightning Strikes Twice As A's Walk Off Over M's Second Night In A Row

Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Kurt Suzuki tied the game with an RBI double in the seventh and won the game in the bottom of the ninth with a run-scoring two-bagger to lead the Oakland Athletics over the Seattle Mariners, 6-5, at the Oakland Coliseum.

Rajai Davis finished 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored, as the A's took a 2-1 lead in the four-game series with its second straight win in its last at-bat.

Mark Ellis, Ryan Sweeney and Kevin Kouzmanoff also tallied two hits in the win for Oakland, which took a 2-1 decision in 10 innings on Tuesday after losing 5-3 in the season opener.

Justin Duchscherer, making his first major league start since August 18, 2008 due to elbow surgery and a bout with depression, lasted 5 2/3 innings while allowing five runs on seven hits with four strikeouts.

Jerry Blevins (1-0) picked up the victory after recording the final out of the ninth.

Milton Bradley went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run for the Mariners, who received three hits and a run scored from Jose Lopez.

Ryan Rowland-Smith started and surrendered four runs -- three earned -- on eight hits in five frames for Seattle, while Mark Lowe (0-1) was saddled with the loss after allowing the game-winning run.

Suzuki's one-out shot hit the left-field wall, just over the glove of Bradley, allowing Kouzmanoff to score for the win.

Bradley started the scoring in the first with a two-out two-run shot.

Oakland made it 2-1 on Sweeney's sacrifice fly in the bottom half of the first. It plated Davis, who singled, then stole second and reached third on Rob Johnson's throwing error.

Davis tied the game in the third with a lead-off solo blast, and in the fourth, Daric Barton scored on Travis Buck's double thanks to Ichiro Suzuki's fielding blunder.

However, Seattle re-took the lead in the fifth. Jack Wilson singled to score Franklin Gutierrez and Chone Figgins drilled a sac fly to get Wilson home and give Seattle a 4-3 advantage.

Barton's sac fly in the fifth evened the contest once more, though Seattle went up 5-4 on Gutierrez's RBI single in the sixth.

The A's then tied the game once again in the seventh, as Suzuki hit a two- out double off Brandon League to plate Ellis, who singled to lead off.
