His nickname is "Born Ready", and we're apparently we'll soon find out if it's apt. Cincinnati freshman Lance Stephenson has announced that he is entering the NBA Draft, according to Ben Osborne of SLAM.
Stephenson was a highly touted high school player -- he is the all-time leading scorer in New York high school history -- but ended up at Cincinnati due to concerns over his selfish play, negative attitude and weight problems. The 6'5'', 200-pound Stephenson did not do much to alleviate those concerns during the season, making it unlikely that he'll end up being drafted despite his big, Tyreke Evans-esque size for a guard.
Draft Express has him ranked as a second-round prospect in next year's draft and wondered why "Stepenson reversed course and decided to enter" after "a very underwhelming season" at a time when he has "zero buzz". Stephenson averaged 12.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game for the Bearcats this season.
