The hours leading up to the Derby have proven to be interesting. With rain falling in Louisville, the odds have shifted, but the start time is still scheduled for 6:28 P.M. Eastern. Follow along here.
The official Kentucky Derby website has full video of the 136th Kentucky Derby. If you missed it, you can watch the whole thing here for free.

Paddy O'Prado held off Devil May Care on Saturday to secure a third-place finish in the 2010 Kentucky Derby.
The horse started the day with 11-1 odds, ensuring that no horse in the winner's circle was a major surprise.
Here's what our horse racing blog, And Down The Stretch They Come, had to say about Paddy O'Prado before the race:
Paddy O’Prado: Another colt that has spent most of his career racing on grass prior to his attempt at the Derby. He hasn’t run on dirt since last July is a mystery as to what he’ll do on Saturday. Paddy is trained by local Louisville trainer Dale Romans.
Check out the rest of this StoryStream for more on the Derby.
Ice Box, who began Saturday with 10/1 odds, made a final charge at the end of the Kentucky Derby but ultimately fell short of winner Super Saver. Ice Box settled for second.
Here's what our horse racing blog, And Down The Stretch They Come, had to say about Ice Box prior to the race:
Ice Box: If the pace is fast enough early, this hard-closing winner of the Florida Derby could find himself passing a lot of tired horses in the stretch. Ice Box is a very intriguing long shot possibility considering that the pace should be quite fast this year. Hall of Fame trainer Nick Zito will be attempting to win his third Kentucky Derby, and his first since 1994.

We have a winner! Super Saver crossed the finish line with a lead over over one length to win the 136th Kentucky Derby.
Calvin Borel, the jockey, has expanded upon his legendary status with his third Derby win.
Here's what our blog at At Down The Stretch They Come wrote about Super Saver:
Super Saver: There is so much to like about this horse -- he’s won a stakes race at Churchill Downs already in his career, he’s got Calvin Borel in the saddle (last year’s winning jockey), and he’s seems to be improving with every race this spring. This colt might be the sleeper of the entire Derby and it’s very possible that he could be the one to beat.
We'll have much more shortly. Stay tuned to this StoryStream for updates.
The 136th Kentucky Derby is about an hour away, but already it seems likely that at least one Derby record will be broken.
The highest-priced favorite in Derby history had 6-1 odds (Harlan's Holiday in 2002). As of this writing, the 2010 Derby favorite, Lookin At Lucky, stands at 7-1. If these odds hold up until the race, it would be a new record.
Another record is in jeopardy. The rainiest Derby, held in 1918, dumped 2.31" of rain on southern Louisville. Today's weather, while intermittent, may well smash this record.
As of 4:15 Eastern on Derby Day, Devil May Care still stands at 10-to-1 odds (Lookin at Lucky and Super Saver have the best odds at 8-to-1). But as the track condition has been altered by the weather, Devil May Care's chances are looking more impressive by the hour.
Devil May Care starts at post 11, and will take off in the middle of the track. It's important to note how the rest of the day's winners have fared:
Maybe more importantly, the winners have been rallying down the center of the racetrack, suggesting that the track near the inside rail is “dead” — meaning it is deeper and horses who are stuck down there are at a disadvantage.
By the same token, this is bad news for Lookin At Lucky and Ice Box, who start at posts 1 and 2, respectively. If they can't get off the rail, they might be in trouble.
Weather issues remain the largest issue concerning the 136th Kentucky Derby. The post time is still scheduled for 6:28 P.M. Eastern, though it's possible that rain may push back the proceedings. SB Nation's horse racing blog, And Down The Stretch They Come, offers a look at how some of Saturday's horses have performed in off conditions:
Super Saver - 1st, Maiden Special Weight at Belmont (9/11/09, track "Sloppy/Sealed")
Stately Victor - 2nd, Maiden Special Weight at Saratoga (8/22/09, track "Good")
Dean's Kitten - 5th, Pilgrim Stakes at Belmont (10/4/09, track "Good")
Paddy O'Prado - 7th, Maiden Special Weight at Churchill (7/4/09, track "Sloppy/Sealed")
Devil May Care - 1st, Maiden Special Weight at Saratoga (8/29/09, track "Sloppy")
Mission Impazible - 2nd, Allowance N1X at Gulfstream (1/9/10, track "Sloppy/Sealed")
Discreetly Mine - 4th, Spectacular Bid Stakes at Gulfstream (1/9/10, track "Sloppy/Sealed")
Dublin - 4th, Maiden Special Weight at Churchill (6/11/09, track "Good")
Backtalk - 1st, Sportsman's Paradise Stakes at Delta Downs (2/26/10, track "Sloppy/Sealed")
Homeboykris - 4th, Maiden Special Weight at Ca lder (6/ 27/09, track "Good")
So if you're banking on poor track conditions -- which you should be -- keep in mind that Super Saver, Devil May Care, and Backtalk have won races on sloppy tracks in the past.

This much is certain: the 136th running of the Kentucky Derby is going to be a damp affair. According to weather.com, scattered thunderstorms will be present in the Churchill Downs area:
If you're looking for some optimism, I'm currently about two miles away from Churchill Downs, and am not seeing a drop of rain. Hopefully the storms scatter enough to keep conditions bearable in South Louisville.
Now for the pessimism: Louisville's WAVE 3 is reporting that flooding is a real possibility this weekend. Louisvillians are used to flooding, but the legion of people in town for the Derby may have trouble navigating the streets.
As for the race itself, no horses have been scratched yet. Stay tuned. And for all things Derby, be sure to check in with our horse racing blog, And Down The Stretch They Come.

The 2010 Kentucky Derby will be broadcast on NBC at 5:00 Eastern Saturday. Provided it happens, that is.
The Weather Channel speculates on the possibility that for the first time ever, the Kentucky Derby will be rained out:
While it's difficult to pinpoint exactly where this band of heavy rain will park, several inches of rain may soak the Louisville metro through Saturday!
The heaviest rain on "Derby Day" was a 2.31" deluge that accumulated both in the morning and evening of May 11, 1918. Therefore, it's possible Saturday could be the wettest race day on record! Perhaps the odds-on favorite isn't really "Lookin At Lucky" but rather "Heavy Rain".
But... Heavy Rain isn't the name of a horse! Oh, wait, is The Weather Channel making a joke? Oh okay, cool, good job guys.
Personally, I don't see a rainout. A few months ago, overhead lights were installed at Churchill Downs to allow for night races. The city of Louisville puts far too much stock into this race for it to be canceled outright. If they have to race at 10:00 at night, they will.
It will be interesting to see how the race organizers weigh the race itself against the health of the horses. Churchill Downs still uses a natural dirt track, rather than the synthetic stuff that's more accommodating to weather. The dirt will be wet, making things dangerous for the horses.
These are physically one-dimensional creatures. As a consequence of selective breeding, their relatively brittle legs are especially prone to fractures. In many cases, if a racehorse breaks a leg, he has to be euthanized. If you've followed the Derby over the last few years, you know this.
So hopefully, the Kentucky Derby will be run, and they won't have to euthanize any horses for its sake. Stay tuned to this StoryStream for weather updates, race results, and other news. Also, be sure to check in with SB Nation's horse racing blog, And Down The Stretch They Come.
