Former Seattle city council member Judy Nicastro is leading the charge for Seattle to get back into the NBA business. Having lost the SuperSonics in 2008, it seemed only a matter of time before someone started trying to replace them. The plan would entail a ton of private investing and will apparently not rely on public taxes, a good sign.↵
The question now is whether or not to renovate the Sonics' old home Key Arena or to build a new arena. One could be built near Qwest & Safeco Fields or even in nearby Bellevue. Regardless of how they do it, Nicastro is fired up to get it done. And shove it in the face of those damn Oklahomans.↵
“It is ludicrous that we don’t have basketball. How can you lose NBA to Oklahoma? That is embarrassing,” says Nicastro. “Key Arena is a crap hole anyway.”↵
So...a new arena then? Probably...
