Limas Sweed Placed On IR, Will Miss Entire Season

When Limas Sweed ruptured his Achilles tendon on May 2, the extent of the injury, and the amount of time he would miss, were yet to be determined. On Tuesday, both of those questions were answered. The Pittsburgh Steelers placed Limas Sweed on Injured Reserve today.

The Steelers waived Sweed on Monday, but there were no takers and the Steelers were forced to place him on IR instead. Because he was waived, he will not count against the team’s 80-man roster limit.

To replace Sweed, the Steelers signed former Maryland WR Isaiah Williams. Williams spent some time with the Ravens organization after going undrafted in the 2009 draft, before being cut last January.
