Richard And The Bullpen Keep Giants Down As Padres Extend Division Lead To 2.5 Games

San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - Clayton Richard tossed seven solid innings, and Yorvit Torrealba knocked in two runs, as the San Diego Padres defeated the San Francisco Giants, 5-2, in the middle installment of a three- game series at AT&T Park.

Richard (2-2) gave up two runs on seven hits, while Jerry Hairston Jr. finished 2-for-2 with two walks and a run batted in for the Padres, who have won four of their last five games.

San Diego reliever Mike Adams hurled a perfect eighth, and Heath Bell pitched around a leadoff single in the ninth to pick up his 10th save.

Bengie Molina and Aubrey Huff each had two hits for the Giants, who have lost all five games to their NL West rivals this season.

Matt Cain (2-2) absorbed the loss after allowing five runs on six hits and six walks in 6 2/3 innings.
