Just in case there was any hope that JP Howell might be able to avoid the operating table, Buster Olney goes and stomps those dreams dead:
Done deal: The Rays' J.P. Howell is going to have shoulder surgery (torn labrum) in the days ahead, and he will aim to be back next year.
