As expected, Jorge Posada landed on the DL on Thursday, felled by a fracture in his foot. Catcher Chad Moeller was brought up from AAA to take his place. Moeller went 6-29 with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and owns a career .639 OPS over 492 Major League games.
For his part, Posada says he doesn't expect to be out for as long as his timetable:
NEW YORK -- Yankees catcher Jorge Posada insists he will be back before the three to four weeks team doctors believe it will take for his fractured right foot to heal.
"It's not going to take that long," said Posada, who wore a protective walking boot on his right foot. "They can say whatever they're going to say. I'll be here before that."
The likelihood, however, is that New York will be without its star backstop for as long as the medical professionals say.

The Yankees took another hit in their lineup Wednesday night when Jorge Posada's MRI revealed he has a hairline fracture on the bottom of his right foot.
Posada is expected to miss up to a month and will most likely be placed on the disabled list Thursday.
Posada has missed the last three games because of what was originally called a "bruised" right foot. Posada was hitting .326 with a .406 on-base percentage before the injury.
Francisco Cervelli will take over full-time catching duties in Posada's absence. Cervelli has been hot at the plate, hitting .375 in 21 games.

Jorge Posada Set To Return From Foot Fracture
All along, Jorge Posada maintained he wouldn't be out as long as the doctors were saying. It looks like Jorge Posada was right.
Posada was initially projected to miss 3-4 weeks, but if he returns tomorrow, it will have been barely two weeks since he last played against Minnesota. The only thing holding him back from a return at this point is that Joe Girardi wants to see him run one more time.
In Posada's absence, Francisco Cervelli got nearly all of the playing time behind the plate, batting .227.
