In addition to the four super fights that were announced by the UFC yesterday for their grappling tournament at the 2010 UFC Fan Expo later this month, the world's leading MMA promotion today officially announced a super fight for the tournament in the form of Takanori Gomi vs. Shane Roller.
Former Pride FC lightweight champion Takanori Gomi was at one time considered perhaps the best lightweight fighter on the planet. He has struggled recently, however, having lost two of his last four matches to competition that is far from elite prior to joining the UFC earlier this year.
"The Fireball Kid" made his debut at UFC Fight Night 21, where he was submitted by perennial top lightweight contender Kenny Florian.
Roller was a three-time All-American wrestler at Oklahoma State University (OSU). He now trains mixed martial arts full time with former collegiate teammates Jake Rosholt and Johny Hendricks at Team Takedown in Texas.
Shane is coming off a first round rear-naked choke submission victory against Anthony Njokuani at WEC 48 last month.
