Florentino Perez Announces Real Madrid Agreement With Jose Mourinho

Florentino Pérez announced today that Real Madrid has come to an agreement with Internazionale coach José Mourinho, ending the coaching tenure of Manuel Pellegrini at the Santiago Bernabeu. The club president said that compensation had yet to be worked-out with the Italian club.

In a press conference this evening Madrid-time, Pérez announced that the team had finished its Manuel Pellegrini stage, commending the work-ethic of the Chilean coach, while confirming Mourinho as his replacement, pending negotiations with Inter Milan.

In rough translation of what was announced in Marca, today:

Florentino Pérez dio por “finalizada la etapa de Pellegrini en el Real Madrid” y anunció “la contratación de José Mourinho como nuevo entrenador una vez resuelva su situación contractual con el Inter de Milán”.

En una rueda de prensa convocada en el Santiago Bernabéu, el máximo mandatario del conjunto blanco quiso “agradecer la profesionalidad y entrega impecable” del chileno pero destacó que “ha llegado la hora de dar un impulso a nuestro proyecto”.

Pellegrini moved to Real Madrid from Villareal last summer after unprecedented success with the Yellow Submarine. He is replaced by Mourinho, who confirmed on Saturday his intention to leave Italian football.


Report: Real Madrid Expected To Announce Jose Mourinho Hiring Wednesday

Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has called a meeting of the club’s board as well as a press conference for Wednesday evening (Madrid time). According to reports, Pérez will address the club’s coaching situation, with expectations that current Internazionale coach José Mourinho will be announced to the same position at the Santiago Bernabeu.

At the same time, Pérez is expect to announce the future of current coach Manuel Pellegrini, who led Real Madrid to the club’s highest ever league point total in 2009-10 but still fell four points short of Barcelona. Real Madrid was also eliminated early in the Copa del Rey and did not make it past the Round of 16 in UEFA Champions League.

Mourinho is coming off his second Champions League title on Saturday, his Internazionale team defeating Bayern Munich 2-0 in the Bernabeu.

Mourinho was to meet with Inter president Massimo Moratti yesterday to finale his Milano future. Reports held Mourinho had already reached an agreement with Real Madrid, with the former Chelsea and Porto manager already confirming his intent to leave Italian football.


Mourinho Has Signed With Real Madrid, Inter To Be Compensated

José Mourinho has signed with Real Madrid, according to a report released shortly after Internazionale defeated Bayern Munich in Saturday’s Champions League final.

Mourinho is said to have signed a four year contract before Saturday’s match and will make more than the £8.6 million he was paid by Inter.

Inter is due compensation from Real Madrid for the coach. The amount to go Inter’s way is said to be no more than £14 million.

After Saturday’s match, Mourinho had confirmed that he would leaving Inter Milan, though he had initially refrained from naming Real Madrid as a destination. Eventually, word came out that he had told German and French outlets that he would be moving to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Now comes confirmation that Mourinho has had a deal in place.

Mourinho has won league titles in England and Italy and has said it is one of his goals to also win a title in Spain.

Real Madrid finished four points behind Barcelona this year at the top of the Spanish Primera Division.
