Report: Dolphins DE Philip Merling Arrested In Domestic Dispute With Pregnant Girlfriend

Bill Parcells once said he "didn't want any thugs and hoodlums" on his team.

Well, he might want to take a closer look at that.

On Wednesday night, Dolphins DE Philip Merling was reportedly arrested in a domestic dispute with his pregnant girlfriend. According to PFT, the charge is aggravated battery.

The details of the arrest aren't known yet but SB Nation's The Phinsider feels this could have a lasting effect on Merling's career with the Dolphins.

And now with combining this off-the-field news with his disappointing play on the field, Jared Odrick's chances of starting might have just gotten much better. It'll be interesting to see if Merling is on the field - though i doubt it - for minicamp that begins on Friday in Davie.

Merling becomes the fourth Dolphin arrested since the end of the 2009 season.

Merling was the second draft pick in 2008 under the Parcells-led regime.
