With the Celtics and Lakers set to face off on Thursday for yet another showdown in the NBA Finals, it's no surprise to hear some trash talk coming from both sides. Familiarity breeds contempt, after all. But this guy took it too far:
Two years ago, he fell during the Finals against the Lakers and went off in a wheelchair. An actual wheelchair! Five minutes later, he was dropping three-pointers all over TD Banknorth Garden. He actually came back into the game with the music from "Rocky" blaring over the public-address system. Yo, Paulie, that was such a bad con job, Sylvester Stallone is a better actor than your are.
By the way, Pierce's idea of a fun night is going clubbing and getting stabbed. Good times!
This from some random Lakers blog the Los Angeles Times. And honestly, I'm not sure which is worse: Joking about the time Pierce nearly died after getting stabbed 11 times and was hit over the head with a bottle... Or that awful, awful Sly Stallone joke the sentence before. Either way, thanks for making us dumber, random LA Times writer.
And, in the interest of fair time, Shaquille O'Neal's thoughts on Pierce:
"Take this down. My name is Shaquille O'Neal, and Paul Pierce is the [expletive] truth. Quote me on that, and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."
UPDATE: The LA Times pulled the column... Rghtfully so. If you're still curious, you can find this journalistic gem via Google Cache.

What a joke...
Lifelong Arizona Cardinals/Chicago Bears fan [I have always lived in Arizona, dad is from Chicago].
I can't stand fair-weather/bandwagon fans, stick with your team, throughout the good and the bad. And don't switch to whichever team wins the Super Bowl each year.

Yeah, I’ve been riding that bandwagon since 1980 and never got off.

It's not a joke it's THE TRUTH... except for the stabbing part.

But
From the perspective of another person or Celtic fan, that is completely unacceptable. The man was nearly killed and people are joking about it? You honestly think its “not that bad”?

The rest of it wasn't that bad. But that one part was bad... It was just one slip up, but it's true he should be more of a professional (the writer).

Agreed about the Writer but
The entire article was just about cutting down Celtics, KG is the most inspirational player Ive ever watched, and this guy is saying he isnt good anymore because he has put all of his hard work in for 11 years then came to the Celtics and it finally payed off and had a “Microphone Meltdown”. What do you make of this?

Alright, you got me, I didn't really bother to read the article. hehe (sneaky)
I noticed some of his facts were wrong as I did read the comments section and people pointed’em out. He’s a jackass, and may get fired btw…. I said it was the truth cuz I read that quote block above about Pierce acting and planning the injury and the specific music in the finals. but not the stabbing part that was stupid.

But yeah, it's on me for saying that the whole article was good, I was being dumb.
The conspiracy about the injury I liked, thats why I said it was good, my bad…

Really?
Kevin Garnett is inspiring? He has had a good career but he is an ass, and I think many current players would back me on that.

Except for the stabbing part?
That is the only reason this is news. Everyone knows the Lakers and the Celtics hate each other. But fact is no one is idiotic enough on our side to make jobs about the near death of another player.
Stay Classy LA.

Yeah, I meant to say that the article was kinda good, except for the stabbing part... stay classy totheheights.
Also, but you are idiotic enough to try to tilt over the Laker bus with all Laker players in it?
(I put you in that category just like you did by saying that all of LA is not classy)

You may have meant to say something else but you didn't.
No one tried to tip over the Laker bus.

Were you there?... exactly, the Lakers know what happened, so be quiet.

Bulletin Board Material Anyone?
Print this out Doc.
Yeah, the Lakers might not have anything to do with the Article, but the best way to get back at the guy is to have the Lakers fans drive him out of LA because of a tasteless article that fired up the Celtics.

We've tried, but he hangs in there.

I notice the LA Times didn’t mention Kobe’s favorite past time: Raping White Women.

Andrew Sharp is ridiculous.
We regularly rip him at SS&R and this pile of manure is no different. Our own Josh Tucker ripped him a new one recently, but it looks like untalented writers like Sharp just won’t take a hint.
Pierce has overcome a lot in his life. Stabbing is no joke, it doesn’t matter who you play for.
