We've noted before that some of the more clever recent efforts of the Boston Bruins marketing department, including a stern, bear-featured admonishment to fans not to try to beat the traffic when attending games. Apparently the folks had some more handy advice for their fans, going into the conference semifinal round against the Philadelphia Flyers, which the Bruins last night took a 2-0 series lead in.
In keeping with a message last year to avoid dating fans of teams within the division, the Bruins are posting signage around town warning hometown fans "Never, ever date a Flyers fan. Even if she shaves her mustache." I wasn't aware that Philadelphia women had a reputation of being especially hirsute, but I think that still qualifies as a burn.
And I suppose if that message proves to be too generically insulting, the team could always accurately note that people in Philadelphia spend an inordinate amount of time getting puked on and tasered. Reason enough to keep a wide berth, I would imagine.
