Eager to discourage the impression that losing weight can turn you into a drug-addicted, prostitute-soliciting statutory rapist, weight loss giant Nutrisystem has dropped Lawrence Taylor as a spokesman. That part isn't surprising. This part is more surprising.
Indeed, where once LT showed off his superior physique on the Nutrisystem website, now stands the 42 year old barber-looking Matt Stairs, who made news this past offseason by dropping more than 30 pounds. Stairs is shown alongside fellow celebrity success stories like Curt Menefee, Chris Berman, and Charlie Manuel. Because when America thinks fitness, America thinks Chris Berman and Charlie Manuel.
Stairs may not have the household name value of a Lawrence Taylor, but the people who do know him have nary a negative word to say, which makes him the right kind of replacement following LT's whole scandal. If it's controversy Nutrisystem's looking to avoid, they could do a lot worse than hire a Canadian.
