Vince Young Cited in Dallas Strip Club Assault

UPDATE: Dallas' CBS TV affiliate reports Young was issued a Class C assault citation, which is punishable by a fine of up to $500, after police reviewed a tape of the incident (see it after the jump) and interviewed witnesses.

UPDATE 2: Young reportedly went off after a man threw a Horns Down sign, dissing Young's Texas college team.

UPDATE 3: NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said via Twitter that the league "will look into" the incident.

No, Vince Young, this is not the way you go about rehabilitating your career:
Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young is the prime suspect in a Saturday night assault at a Dallas strip club that left an individual with bodily injury, an official with the Dallas Police Department said Sunday.

No warrant has been issued, but police say Young is the prime suspect. The altercation allegedly broke out after words were exchanged at Club Onyx on 10557 Wire Way. Police believe Young left the scene before officers arrived, a DPD official said.

There's also, if you're inclined to believe random tweets, this mention of Young being in a fight at that club (SFW, but it's the front page of a website for a strip club) from early Sunday morning. In any case, it would seem that the Titans quarterback has some explaining to do.

ESPN the Magazine ran a story on Young vacationing in the Caribbean last month, and it seemed like the once-troubled star had put his life back together after a Pro Bowl campaign in 2009. An assault charge would not be a continuation of that pattern.

Oaky, so he’s only a suspect right now. The fact he plays for Tennessee is a little ironic. Looks like the organization might have a PacRat Junior on their hands.

Freakin’ dumb ass! I’ll tell you what…………..Goodell is really gonna have his hands full baby-sitting these idiots with the personal-conduct policy (which is NEEDED, by the way). These guys aren’t getting it. Better have a 65 man roster on every team from now on just so 53 are ABLE TO PLAY EVERY WEEK! It’s getting worse!

End of rant………..

Well, well, well Mr. Goodell.  Seems like your making an example of Ben Roethlisberger is not having the effect you thought it would.  The pace of offseason, off-the-field incidents keeps moving right along with no change because of the Roethlisberger suspension.

Sooo…

Mr. Goodell, whether or not Vince Young is innocent or guilty he needs to be suspended.  That is the precedent you set and you need to follow it, and I expect the same non-stop coverage from the media Rothlisberger got for his troubles to now be focused on Young.  Unless you’re all the hypocrites I have said you were from day one.

These guys just love their strip clubs. Give them all the money in the world and they’re still low class.

I don’t know if Club Onyx know this or not, but they really need to improve on their spelling.  The next Scripps-Howard spelling bee will NOT be held there if they keep this up.

Crap, they have me doing it (see above grammatical error).  I’m up in da club, yo!

vince young is hardly known for his mental stability, emotional maturity, and rock solid judgement.  scrib clubs are great places to hang if you are a celeb.

Vince becomes the latest to require a brain transplant, or perhaps a simple installation. Agree with bbaroo, considering what was done to Big Ben for hanging around in the wrong places (which was all that was ever proven if I recall correctly), Vince, who not only is obviously guilty of the same but also appears guilty of at least aggravated assault causing bodily harm (Class C assault citation?), deserves at least the same punishment —- presuming, that is, the legal system really does just fine him $500. And all for a "horns-down sign"??

a shoving match girl fight is exactly the same as imprisoning and raping a young drunk college girl is it? and how many incidents is this for big beans 6? or is it only 4? i have lost count. pants on the ground!

what the hell is the big deal….the guy was dying to get vince to take a swing at him.

The precedent Goodell set with Rohpyhnolberger is to stop raping women. Young got in a fight with a man. Does that sound like the same thing to you, bbaroo? If so, then you’re an idiot. And he can’t lose his Heisman since this happened five years after he won it. Jeez. Lots of idiots today.

Thug this, thug that! Why is it every-time a black athlete does something he’s a thug. No one called Ben a thug. I scanned through every post and no one called the man a thug. Thugs are selling drugs, robbing and killing. Vince got into a slap fight with someone and he is now a thug. If you are not going to do anything about the REAL THUGS stalking the streets doing harm, please stop using the term!

This is Vince’s "first offense".  The same cannot be said of Big Ben.  Plus, the allegations are quite different.  I like VY’s college spirit, but clearly, his judgement is in question.

archangel…stop being a thug.

Cha-cha-chia, there was no precedent set at all.  If there was a precedent set regarding sexual assault Eric Foster wouldn’t be eligible,  Eric Green wouldn’t be eligible, and Brandon Underwood wouldn’t be eligible. These players were also accused of sexual assault, yet they are still eligible.  No, it’s about a commissioner who is not being consistent when it comes to discipline.

The arguments pertaining to Roethlisberger’s suspension are past tense, but I’m here to say the commissioner has to be consistent in meting out discipline.  People are very focused on the "sexual" part of the phrase sexual assault, but assault is still assault.  If nobody’s in that room to pull Young off that guy how far does Young go?  Do you know, or I?  He could have killed him.

Speaking of charges, that is where the real issue arises.  As I said, Roethlisberger is already suspended, but he was never charged so he still is presumed innocent i.e. that the sex he had was consensual.  However, I don’t think the beating Phillip Merling’s pregnant girlfriend was alleged to have taken could be perceived as consensual.  Merling was charged, yet no suspension.  Young was charged as well.  Hell, Donte Stallworth KILLED A MAN, and is back this year!  That’s what you are supporting, ChiAdam, a commissioner who lets men who were convicted of manslaughter back on the field, a guy who beat up a pregnant woman is still allowed to draw a check, and many others accused of the same allegations Roethliberger faced are still eligible.

Goodell was doing nothing but trying to make himself look good in the media by suspending Roethlisberger, and he’s not interested at all in real justice.  If he was, he’d be dealing with the above matters in a more aggressive matters.  I’m not the smartest guy on these boards, but your comments stand out as the most uninformed and haltingly idiotic I have seen.

Oh by the way, I gave your boy a chance to answer questions regarding his disciplinary inconsistencies via e-mail and it’s documented on my blog.  He could have come out and answered and swayed myself and others to his side by answering them in a thorough manner but I haven’t heard from him, and that was even before the Young incident.  It’s becoming more and more safe to assume that he’s a hypocrite and a cardboard John Wayne.

roger goodell wont answer my e-mails either, but barack obama promised me he would speak to goodell about the unfair treatment of white players in the nfl.

Now I see why vince scored a whopping 6 in the wonderlic test.

by wildwalt on Jun 14, 2010 11:49 PM EDT reply actions

Wasn’t the ultimate complaint about Roethlisberger that he had ‘tarnished the image’ of the NFL, as well as his own? What has Vince done, polish it? Fortunately, the legal system exists to prevent speculation from being used as a weight on the scales of justice. With Vince, there aren’t any conclusions to be jumped to… it’s all on tape. This has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the relative merit (sarcasm there) of raping women vs. assaulting men. It’s about what you have been proven to have done, (sadly) how it plays in the media, and how much damage it does to the league. Vince’s first episode of running off with a gun was painted as the desperate act of a depressed young victim. After watching this basically virtuous but flawed young man go beserk in a strip club, I’m no longer sure I believe that.

And if Roethlisberger’s suspension was supposed to set an example that would prevent other high-profile players from indulging in stupid acts, guess what, it ain’t workin’. Better go to case-by-case.

Whatever…Does the media really need a new News story?  Two men pushing and shoving.  A minor scuffle at best and we the public should now pay attention or worst condemn Vince Young.Comparing Ben’s "sexual rape" against a drunken woman in a dingy bathroom to the VY scenario is a HUGE stretch and speaks more to a person’s hatred of women rather than the fairness of the NFL policies. Ben IS a pig!! Vick is Slime!! However, the Vince Young act, while not exemplary, is not even close.  I’ve seen bigger brawls in the NBA playoffs.NO Suspension!!! Play Ball!!
