Kemp Ends Pitchers Duel With A Walkoff Home Run As Dodgers Down D'Backs, 1-0
Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Matt Kemp crushed a Juan Gutierrez fastball into the left-field bleachers with one out in the 10th to end an incredible pitching duel and give the Dodgers a 1-0 win against the Diamondbacks.
John Ely got the start for Los Angeles and pitched beautifully over seven innings, allowing just two hits and two walks with five strikeouts.
Jeff Weaver (3-1) got the win for tossing a scoreless top half to the 10th, while Hong-Chih Kuo worked 1 1/3 key frames of perfect relief.
The Dodgers have won three straight, four of five overall and have beaten the D'Backs in seven of eight opportunities this season -- including the first two games to this three-game set.
Arizona's Dan Haren struck out seven and worked around seven hits in eight scoreless frames without allowing a walk.
It was the slumping Diamondbacks' ninth consecutive loss, matching an equal stretch of ineptitude dating back to an August 5-14, 2004 skid.
