Who Would You Rather Have: Jason Heyward or Andrew McCutchen?
I was reading Fantasy Alpha on Sunday morning and read that Eric thinks Jason Heyward would be a top 10 outfielder for 2011 drafts. I am not so sure, even though I own him in two keeper leagues.
With that said who would you rather have in a keeper league: Andrew McCutchen or Jason Heyward?
McCutchen is hitting .319-.394-.484 with 7 HRs, just 21 RBIs, 44 runs scored and 18 SBs in 24 attempts. He has lowered his K% from 19.2% to 16.5% and is walking at an 11% clip. He has a .19/.41/.41 LD/GB/FB batted ball slash line and is swinging at only 19% of balls outside the zone. He has solid plate discipline and his main fantasy asset is his speed and BA.
Heyward is just 236 at bats into his rookie season, and is hitting .263-.379-.479 with 11 HRs, 44 RBIs, 39 runs scored and 4 SBs in 8 attempts. Heyward is walking almost 15% of his at bats, but is striking out at a 26% rate. I think he will bring the K% down in the future, just not sure if it will be this year. He has a .15/.51/.34 LD/GB/FB batted ball slash line and is swinging at 25% of balls outside the zone. He is a 4 category fantasy hitter who could steal double digit bags in the future.
I own both of them in both of my NL-only keeper leagues and happy I own them going into the 2011 season and beyond. Who would you rather have?
