Marcos Ambrose

I apologize for jinxing him, but I really, REALLY think he’s going to win today.

I’d bet on it if we were in Vegas!

His car was wicked fast in final practice, would be nice to see him win great guy

by Len_DiJoseph on Jun 20, 2010 2:27 PM EDT up reply actions

Be nice to see him win. I could get behind Marcos winning.

My pick is Kasey.

by jr88freak on Jun 20, 2010 2:29 PM EDT up reply actions

I hate to say this but Gordon is my pick

by Len_DiJoseph on Jun 20, 2010 2:32 PM EDT up reply actions

I’m picking Tony Stewart

by BSargentOKC on Jun 20, 2010 2:30 PM EDT up reply actions

How about Jeff Burton. First road course victory on the day of his 500th consecutive start!!

by Shaggy_5150 on Jun 20, 2010 2:32 PM EDT up reply actions

I would love to see Ambrose win the race!!! A new face in Victory Lane is always fun!

by kahnefanatic on Jun 20, 2010 2:41 PM EDT up reply actions

I am goin with Marcos Ambrose and hoping that Jeff Gordon has a banner day.

by Ceejaytravels on Jun 20, 2010 2:52 PM EDT up reply actions

I agree that Marcos looks good for today. I also think Truex looks pretty good this weekend (and that surprises me). He’s my dark horse pick.

I’d also like to see Tony win. He’s coming to our local short track on Wednesday, and it would be cool to see him after he won (it’s gonna be cool to see him racing here anyway).

Jr’s racing today??

Huh..

Has anyone been to one of the road course races?

I’ve always wondered what it would be like to be at one of these tracks. Is it still exciting? I would think it would get boring because they cars are only in front of you for a few seconds and then you can’t really see them when they are on the rest of the track. Just wondering :) I may have to visit a road course some day…..

by kahnefanatic on Jun 20, 2010 2:42 PM EDT reply actions

I've been to Sonoma twice

I went once in the infield and once in the stands. In my experience the stands has a better viewing point. The infield can be difficult to see what is happening. That being said, I loved going to the road course, but it’s the one course I do suggest sitting in the bleachers instead of the infield.

I went to Watkins Glen a couple of years ago. Didn’t have a seat, so I couldn’t see much. Would love to go to Sonoma some times. My experience is that it is better on TV.

Robin Meade..

National Anthem

That’s what happens when you try to put your own swing on the song. Why can’t people just sing the song how it’s written?

by jr88freak on Jun 20, 2010 3:05 PM EDT reply actions

I blame Whitney Houston

After her rendition of the anthem at Super Bowl 25, every singer has tried to copy her.

Robin Meade

You should have seen the red-carpet reception Meade got from NASCAR this weekend. These days they’ll take ANYONE with the national media and throw a party for them to get coverage. Kinda sad.

I saw some of her tweets. It appeared that way.

by BSargentOKC on Jun 20, 2010 3:18 PM EDT up reply actions

Sad, but not surprising, from NASCAR..

Road America

I had forgotten how awesome that track is. Too bad they don’t know how to clean up leaked fluids in less than 30 minutes.

by Good2go on Jun 20, 2010 3:17 PM EDT reply actions

FYI

I can’t see the whole track. I can see the carousel (Turns 11 and 12 or whatever) and that’s about it…but I’m watching both Sprint Vision and TNT and have scanners so I should be OK to let you know what’s going on.

by Jeff Gluck on Jun 20, 2010 3:20 PM EDT reply actions

want to see it live

That’s one of the reasons why I don’t know that I want to go to a road course. Watkins is the closest track to me but I don’t want to go & watch a TV screen the whole time. Been to three other races and could see the whole thing from my seat

by YarkerMommy on Jun 20, 2010 3:23 PM EDT up reply actions

where are spotters? Do teams use more than 1?

by BSargentOKC on Jun 20, 2010 3:23 PM EDT up reply actions

No

At Watkins Glen they use more than one but not here. They can see most of the track from where they are.

by Jeff Gluck on Jun 20, 2010 3:26 PM EDT up reply actions

Heard most teams use more than one. I know Jr just has TJ only.

by jr88freak on Jun 20, 2010 3:26 PM EDT up reply actions

Mike Calinoff told Sirius this week they are between turns 3 and 3a, and they can see 95% of the track. The part they can’t see is near the carousel, and the crew can spot for them from atop the pit box.

Like to see that most times… does Jr count as “new” or “fresh” since it’s been awhile? Always hope somone “new” wins this race, but it always seems the regulars (gordon, Stewart, Johnson, Busch) are there at the end.

The chase should have 10 different kinds of tracks in it. The champion should be able to race and any and all tracks and to do that you have to have a variety of different tracks in the chase.

Very few need two here because the spotters up on the hill can see much of the course.

At Watkins Glen, some use three.
