Stay connected with SB Nation

Portugal’s third goal in seven minutes puts the Seleccao up 4-0 and further assures Portugal will advance to the knock-out rounds.

Portugal again beat North Korean down their left flank, this time playing Cristiano Ronaldo behind the defense. The winger cut back a pass for midfielder Thiago, who opened his foot on a shoot to the right of net, beating Ri Myong-Guk for Portugal’s fourth goal.

Portugal is now on a +4 goal difference and, if they win today, will be on four points. If results standing, the only way Portugal would miss the knockout stage is if they lose on Friday to Brazil while Cote d’Ivoire beats North Korea and the Ivorians turn-around a six goal diffeernce (Cote d’Ivoire sitting at -2).
