Benny Feilhaber's ball through the Ghanaian defense found Clint Dempsey, who was brought down in the penalty are by Ghana central defender Jonathan Mensah. Landon Donovan put the resulting penalty kick into the right side netting to make it 1-1 in the 62nd minute.
The penalty comes as the United States has reverse the match's course in the second half, when Benny Feilhaber's inclusion as helped the U.S. control the first twenty minutes of play after halftime.
In the 65th minute, the score remains tied at one.
