With all the turmoil in Phoenix recently, especially with the losses of GM Steve Kerr and assistant GM David Griffin, the chances of the Suns retaining Amare Stoudemire have lessened. However, that's not stopping the Suns from making one last effort to keep Amare in Phoenix for the long term.
According to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, the Suns will sit down with Stoudemire Tuesday in Los Angeles to make their pitch.
Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver and coach Alvin Gentry will make a last-ditch contract extension offer toAmar'e Stoudemire at a meeting Tuesday in Los Angeles, a team source told Yahoo! Sports.
Unless Sarver comes with a maximum offer that convinces the All-Star forward to stay, Stoudemire will opt-out of the $17.6 million left on the final year of his contract and declare himself a free agent.
Stoudemire reportedly wants to stay in Phoenix, but is concerned about all the upheaval in the front office. If Stoudemire leaves, Phoenix will reportedly consider New York's David Lee.
