Cedric Benson Suspension: Bengals RB Will Miss Week 8

Cincinnati Bengals running back Cedric Benson has had his 3-game suspension reduced to one game. This sent many Bengals fans and fantasy owners into a bit of a panic as to what week Benson would be suspended. The Bengals are on a bye week this week, so naturally many would assume it would be the Bengals Week 8 match up with the Seattle Seahawks. That assumption would be correct, according to John Clayton of ESPN. Clayton confirmed on his twitter account that Benson would miss the Week 8 match up with Seahawks.

Benson was arrested twice and spent nearly a week in jail before the season. He protested the suspension because the NFLPA supposedly allowed up to eight players to be suspended by the league for violating the personal conduct policy despite those actions coming during a time when the players were locked out.

Benson, who has 458 yards rushing and two touchdowns through six games. He's an important cog in the Bengals offense, which is working with a rookie quarterback. In Benson's absence, back up running back Bernard Scott would likely get the lion's share of the carries in the Bengals offense. In spot duty so far on the season, Scott has 30 carries for 98 yards and one rushing touchdown.
