Shoulder Surgery Knocks Gregg Zaun Out For The Season

Stay connected with SB Nation

What was originally a shoulder strain was later diagnosed as a torn labrum. Torn labrums are bad. Torn labrums need surgery. And Zaun is going to get it.

Brewers catcher Gregg Zaun to have season ending shoulder surgery on Tuesday.

The ageless Zaun should be able to make a full recovery, although this will do a number on his marketability come the offseason when he'll again likely be a free agent. For the Brewers, while George Kottaras has just nine hits in his last 49 at bats, he has an .848 OPS on the season, bolstered by a good amount of power and an impressive 26 walks in just 115 trips to the plate.
