The Chargers on Wednesday signed longtime Eagles offensive tackle Tra Thomas. The move is being interpreted by some as "McNeill insurance." In other words, just in case Marcus McNeill doesn't sign agree to a contract -- he's reportedly willing to sit out the 2010 season -- by the time training camp and the season rolls around.
Thomas, soon-to-be 36 years old, was the 11th overall pick in the 1998 draft.
He spent part of the 2009 season with the Jaguars -- where he was mainly a backup -- before being released in February.
