A bit of housekeeping about the recently finalized Al Jefferson trade to the Jazz. In addition to receiving cap space/trade exception and two protected first round picks from Utah, Minnesota will also pick up third-year center Kosta Koufos, according to Ross Siler of the Salt Lake Tribune.
With the Jazz over the luxury tax, Koufos would have cost the team twice his salary, so moving him is simply a cost-cutting move for Utah. As for the Timberwolves, Koufos gives them a young, skilled big (though perhaps not as good a passer as Darko Milicic) who should be ready to absorb minutes as the team's backup center.
