Stage 13 of the 2010 Tour de France, a largely flat path that wandered from Rodez to Revel, was won by Team Astana's Alexandre Vinokourov. Vinokourov, who hails from what is now Kazakhstan, managed to hold off Alessandro Ballan in the final climb to take the jersey.
Our cycling blog, Podium Cafe, sums up Stage 13:
The sprinters stayed mostly together over the undulating course for a second-place sprint, won of course by Mark Cavendish of Team HTC-Columbia over Lampre's Alessandro Petacchi and Edvald Boasson Hagen of Sky. Thor Hushovd, riding in green, failed to take advantage of a stage that seemed made for his all-round ability.
Here are the stage's top finishers:
- Alexandre Vinokourov, Astana
- Mark Cavendish, HTC
- Alessandro Petacchi, Lampre
- Edvald Boasson Hagen, Sky
- JJ Rojas Gil, Caisse d'Epargne
- Julian Dean, Garmin
- Anthony Geslin, FDJ
- Thor Hushovd, Cervelo
And the overall standings:
- Andy Schleck
- Alberto Contador
- Samuel Sanchez
- Denis Menchov
- Jurgen van der Broeck
