MLB Trade Rumors: Manny Ramirez Drawing Some Interest As Deadline Nears

With Prince Fielder and Corey Hart off the market and Adam Dunn looking impossible to acquire, there are still teams out there in search of a big bat, but few big bats available to get. Solution? Try the wild:

It's a halfcourt shot, but it's still in the air: Source says #WhiteSox intend to make one more run at Manny today.

And, from Joel Sherman:

#Rays still looking for RH bat to hit 5th, inquired a while back on Manny Ramirez, but went nowhere with #Dodgers

Asking about a guy isn't the same as getting deep into negotiations for a guy, but this is interesting specifically because it's Manny Ramirez. The Dodgers are currently 4.5 back in the Wild Card race, Ramirez is currently on the DL for the third time this season, and he's still due something like $7m on a $20m 2010 contract. It is highly, highly unlikely he gets moved, but the deadline can make some teams desperate, and he'd certainly be an impact bat were he to go East.
