Union Approves Three-Way Ryan Ludwick, Jake Westbrook Trade

All that's left now is hearing about the prospects. Tom Krasovic reports that the rest is all done:

Union has approved trade. #Padres get Ludwick. #Cardinals get Westbrook, Padres give up two prospects.

So the Cardinals get their starter and the Padres make an impact, right-handed addition. San Diego now has outstanding outfield depth, which should form the makings of a potent bench come playoff time if they can maintain their current standing.

Ted Lilly should now draw even more attention as one of few remaining capable starters on the market.
